Buy Savika Artisan Garam Masala online in India — a hand-blended small-batch spice mix crafted from 14 whole spices, stone-ground in our facility. Unlike factory garam masala blended from pre-ground powders, ours uses whole roasted spices ground to order, preserving the essential oils that make the difference between a good curry and an extraordinary one. No fillers. No salt. No MSG. Just pure, layered warmth.
What Is Artisan?
Garam Masala (literally "hot spice blend" in Hindi) is arguably India's most important spice blend and one of the most complex in world cuisine. Unlike a single-origin spice, it is a carefully balanced composition of multiple aromatic spices that together create a warmth, depth, and complexity no single spice can achieve alone.
Historically, every region and household in India has its own garam masala recipe passed down through generations. North Indian garam masala typically includes cinnamon, black cardamom, and cloves as dominant notes. South Indian versions lean toward pepper and fennel. Mughlai garam masala is more aromatic with mace, nutmeg, and star anise. Savika's Artisan Garam Masala follows a Northern recipe refined over 40 iterations to achieve what our culinary team describes as "the perfect balance of sweet warmth and earthy depth."
Quality garam masala is only as good as its individual components. Pre-ground component powders lose 60–80% of their aromatic oils within 3–6 months. Our process starts with whole roasted spices sourced from their optimal growing regions — Malabar pepper from Kerala, black cardamom from Sikkim, cinnamon from Sri Lanka — each selected, dry-roasted separately at the optimal temperature, then blended and stone-ground together in small batches.

Health Benefits of Artisan
Backed by traditional Ayurvedic wisdom and modern nutritional science.
Digestive Support
The combination of cumin, coriander, and black pepper in garam masala has been used in Ayurveda to improve digestion, reduce bloating, and stimulate appetite.
Thermogenic Properties
Multiple components (black pepper, cloves, ginger) have mild thermogenic effects, which may support metabolism. This is the origin of the word "garam" (warm).
Antioxidant Rich
Cloves rank among the highest-antioxidant foods measured by ORAC score. Combined with cardamom, cinnamon, and black pepper, garam masala is an antioxidant-dense blend.
Blood Sugar Management
Cinnamon in garam masala has shown positive effects on blood sugar regulation in multiple clinical studies when consumed regularly as part of a balanced diet.

Culinary Uses & Cooking Tips
How to use Artisan Garam Masala like an Indian chef
Chicken Tikka Masala
Add ½ tsp near the end of cooking (last 5 minutes) to preserve aromatic top notes. Garam masala added too early loses its fragrance.
Rajma & Chole
Stir in 1 tsp garam masala with the tomato-onion masala stage for deep base flavour, then a pinch at finishing for aroma.
Pulao & Dum Biryani
Add 1 tsp to the rice water along with whole spices for beautifully aromatic grains that hold the blend's warmth without overpowering.
Paneer Dishes
Sprinkle ½ tsp over paneer before pan-frying for a spiced crust. Essential in Shahi Paneer and Kadai Paneer finishes.
Egg Curry / Anda Masala
A fingerprint application: add 1 tsp while frying the masala base and another pinch at the very end for a two-note depth.

How to Store
Store in an airtight container away from heat and light. Because this is freshly ground with live essential oils, it degrades faster than commercial garam masala. Once opened, use within 6 months for maximum aroma. Never store in plastic — use glass or stainless steel.
Sourcing Story
Each component of Savika's Artisan Garam Masala is sourced independently from its best-in-class origin: black cardamom from Sikkim, green cardamom from Idukki (Kerala), true cinnamon (not cassia) from Sri Lanka, Malabar black pepper, star anise from the Northeast. Components are received whole, quality-checked, individually roasted at optimal temperatures, then blended and stone-ground in our certified facility in small 25kg batches — never more, to ensure freshness.
